HopeLine® from Verizon
Verizon recognizes that domestic violence is a national problem that impacts our communities, neighbors, coworkers, friends and family members. We have a long standing commitment to supporting prevention and awareness efforts nationwide as we believe our network and technologies—and our people—can be a part of the solution.
Through Hopeline® from Verizon, we collect no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries, chargers and accessories in any condition, from any service provider and turn them into support for domestic violence awareness and prevention organizations. The phones donated to HopeLine are refurbished and recycled in an environmentally safe way with proceeds going towards the financial support of domestic violence awareness and prevention initiatives.
Verizon also donates wireless phones through the HopeLine program, complete with service and data, to domestic violence shelters and non-profit organizations for use by victims and survivors.
Since 2001, HopeLine has collected more than 11.4 million phones, donated more than $29 million in cash grants, and provided more than 190,000 phones with wireless service and data to domestic violence organizations nationwide.
The Verizon Foundation
The Verizon Foundation puts powerful technology to work in communities worldwide by taking on persistent challenges in the fields of education, sustainability and health care. Drawing on our technological expertise, resources and the volunteer support of Verizon employees, our foundation sets up targeted programs where they’re most needed and provides grants to organizations that support our core initiatives.
Education
We equip students with the technology, information and tools to succeed in the modern classroom. Our programs leverage mobile technology, award-winning free digital content and resources, mobile applications, and teacher training with the goal of increasing student interest and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math.
Health Care
We improve the availability of health care through the delivery of innovative technology-based programs. Innovations like mobile health apps and virtual care improve medical access for patients in remote or underserved areas, reduce health care visits and enable medical professionals to remotely monitor patients with chronic diseases.
Sustainability
Our energy management initiatives leverage technology to provide schools and communities with intelligent energy-saving practices. Through awareness and education programs we help to foster future citizens who can apply their skills and knowledge toward a sustainable future.
